Move Your Mountain: Ted Winsley

March 22, 2016

“In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!’

‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘Truly tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.’” —Mark 11:20-23

Everyone has mountains; mountains are situations or even barriers that hinder your progress, in receiving God’s promises for your life. A mountain could be a financial problem, a physical injury or illness, a life-dominating sin or even problems with your family. No matter what the problem or how long you’ve been facing it, we all can agree it is time for the mountain to move. Thankfully, we are not called to do this on our own, we have a God who provides us the power to move these mountains.

Stop creating mountains in your life: God will not allow you to be a mountain mover as long as you are a mountain builder. When you are building mountains in your life that are keeping you from trusting in God, even your prayers will be ineffective.

“Do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” —Ephesians 4:27-28

Do not expect God to move your mountain: Many people are building mountains and then waiting for God to bring them down. That is not the kind of relationship that God calls us to have with Him; we are to trust in Him and lean on Him but not leave our filth to be dealt with by Him.

“Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.’ Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.’” —Exodus 14:13-16

We must overcome doubt and unbelief. Doubt and unbelief open the door to fear; the more knowledge you receive concerning God’s Word the more you will be able to live without fear and doubt. Knowledge is the best way to overcome doubt.

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. —Mark 11:23

Have faith that what you say will come to pass. You must believe that your words are powerful because you are filled with God’s Holy Spirit.

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” —Proverbs 18:21

Often we have more faith in our negative confession, when we do not doubt negativity, we believe it. What is spoken out of your mouth will produce life or death in your life. You must get to the point that you believe in your words so strongly, you are actually afraid to speak a negative word.

Faith in the grace of God releases mountain moving power. Grace is God’s power to move on your behalf. When a believer exercises their faith in the power of God’s word, mountains will begin to move! Trust in God and watch your mountains be brought down by His power.

“So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.

“What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!”’” —Zechariah 4:6-7
