Every football player dreams about this moment ever since they were a kid. Last year I was signed by the Titans and then was released to come back to the Panthers; I really didn’t know what was going to happen but It ended up being a huge blessing in disguise. Though this is not what I would have planned, I kept my faith and knew that God had a plan for me that I couldn’t see for myself. Now, I’m so happy to be able to be a part of this opportunity with the Panthers.
Football has always been a great outlet for me. I grew up without a father and that was really tough. I never had a dad to bring me to football practice and games like my teammates did, and I was always envious of them. But over time God showed me that He is my true Father. And now that I have a 14-month old son, I want to show Him the love of a godly father; I know the importance of being present in his life.
Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords—He is my everything. I look to Him in private moments and public moments, times when I feel lonely or down. I know that I can always turn to God and read His Word. When I pray to God, I am praying to my Father and my Friend.
I didn’t know what was going to happen after I was released from Tennessee, but God did. I always know that He has a plan for me. And now I’m going to the Super Bowl.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” —Jeremiah 29:11
